The Author
Crisula Stefanescu

Tsutsu first appeared as a charming tuxedo tomcat who wandered into Crisula’s life and inspired a whimsical tale about friendship, identity, and belonging. His story was first published in Romania in 2011, then found new homes in Switzerland and France in 2014, and returned for a second Romanian edition in 2023. In the coming years, Tsutsu will continue his travels with new editions in Catalan (2025), and in English, German, French, Spanish, and Italian (2026).

📖 Behind Tsutsu’s adventures is Crisula herself — a storyteller with a remarkable journey. Born in Romania, she studied Philology at the University of Bucharest and taught French and Romanian before making Munich her home in the 1980s. At Radio Free Europe she became both a sharp cultural analyst and the lively host of Controversies/Confluences East-West, a show exploring the meeting of ideas across continents.

🌍 Since then, Crisula has devoted herself fully to writing. With more than 30 books published in Romanian, German, English, French, and Russian, her work celebrates the power of words to cross borders — just like Tsutsu himself.
