“I’m Tsutsu — a kitten who doesn’t quite fit in. That’s where my story begins…”
Tsutsu is not like other kittens — he’s a vegetarian dreamer with big questions about who he is and where he belongs. Alongside his friend Peppi the Mouse, he journeys from a quiet village to the wide savannah of Donkeyland, meeting whimsical characters, facing trials, and discovering the meaning of courage, friendship, and identity.

    The Story
Born in a shabby shed to a loving mother, Tsutsu’s early days are tender but short. When life takes an unexpected turn, he finds himself stepping bravely into the world on his own — curious, wide-eyed, and full of questions. He is soon discovered by Granny Greenleaf, a solitary vegetarian and though she gives him food and some shelter, she never gives him what he longs for most: a name, a friend, and love.
Determined, Tsutsu sets out on a quest to get a name and friends. Along the way he meets whimsical companions — a butterfly named Yoyo, the all-seeing Rhubarb Leaf, the wise worm Mrs. Curlytail, and the sharp-tongued Mocking Magpie — yet none can help him.
When he finally meets the kind-hearted Lady Twolegs, she names him Tsutsu, but her grumpy husband, Mr. Grumbleman, sneers and calls him “donkey” and “horsey,” leaving Tsutsu more confused than ever.
Things grow even trickier when he befriends the adventurous little mouse Peppi — because cats and mice are not supposed to be pals. To untangle his identity, Tsutsu sets off with Peppi into the fabled Donkeyland. There, among the sly Snake, mischievous Monkeys, the pompous Elephant, the cunning Crocodile, and the mighty Lion (not to mention many others), Tsutsu and Peppi face marvelous adventures and unexpected dangers., where Tsutsu learns lessons far bigger than names.
In the end, Tsutsu’s journey is not just about discovering who he is — it’s about the joy of belonging, the courage to be yourself, and the unexpected magic of friendship.

Tsutsu was first imagined by writer Crisula Stefanescu as an ode to a stray tuxedo tomcat who found her home. Today, Tsutsu lives on as a story and animated world developed together by Crisula and her daughter Monella Kaplan — blending imagination, legacy, and love across generations.
